I have many passions; one is food. I love to cook, eat, dream, and think about food. However, there are several aspects of my life that are incompatible with this passion.
I’m busy. By day, I’m an accountant for a large public institution of higher learning. I also try to volunteer with my church or with an organization that I’m passionate about. I don’t always have time to spend hours over the stove making dinner. So, I have to be quick.
I’m poor. Okay, I’m not really poor, but I am on a budget. My wife has gone back to school, and I’m the sole earner, so we don’t have a lot of room to play with in the financial department. So, I have to be economical.
I’m not a trained chef. That doesn’t really matter in the world of food, but it does mean that I make mistakes and I don’t have all the answers. However, I have more skill than perhaps many people I know because I’ve learned and practiced and I’m not afraid to mess up. So, I want to share what I know, and learn from others.
By now, you’re probably saying, “What does this mean for me?” There are a plethora of web sites that cater to cooking, but not a ton that deal with these three areas. So, my pledge to you is to try to provide cooking content relevant to these areas.
And I welcome your feedback. Thanks for stopping by commonculinarian.com.
